DATE OF MOH ACTION: 29/09/1864 Fort Harrison, Virginia.

 

Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He earned the Medal of Honor during the Civil War while serving as a First Lieutenant, Company A, 58th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, at Fort Harrison, Virginia, on September 29, 1864. He was awarded his Medal on April 1, 1898.

 

MOH CITATION:

 

Though twice severely wounded while advancing in the assault, he disregarded his injuries and was among the first to enter the fort, where he was wounded for the third time.
