DATE OF MOH ACTION: 11/05/1864 Buzzard's Roost, Georgia.

 

Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Private in the Union Army in Company H, 101st Ohio Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on May 11, 1864 at Buzzard's Roost, Georgia. He was a prisoner of war.

 

MOH CITATION:

 

Seized a shell with fuse burning that had fallen in the ranks of his company and threw it into a stream, thereby probably saving his comrades from injury.

 

BURIAL LOCATION: GREENLAWN CEMETERY, TIFFIN, OHIO.
